A woman gets into a shower and a shadow suddenly appears behind the curtain. Rarely has music had such an impact on the collective imagination as Bernard Herrmann’s screeching strings. In Psycho (1960), the American composer abandons the post-romantic language of Vertigo to write a chilling and staggeringly modern score. Hitchcock, filming in black and white with a small budget and little-known actors, also focused on what mattered most. Originally intended as a horrific short thriller, Psycho became one of most famous films in cinematic art. With Ernst van Tiel at the orchestra’s helm, a regular guest of the ONL and a specialist in conducting live concert screenings, you are guaranteed the thrill of shivers running down your spine.
Large screen projection with live music.
