Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg
The young Uzbek conductor, Aziz Shokhakimov, musical director of the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg, will perform a lavish Russian programme. The Concerto for piano No.3 is one of the most widely acclaimed works by Rachmaninov and a challenge highly accomplished pianists all hope to take up. Aged only 22, Alexander Malofeev is already reputed as a great pianist of our time. Created for the 1911 season of the Ballets Russes, Petrushka met with resounding success. The Parisian elite flocked to admire Fokine’s choreography but above all, hear the extraordinary musical kaleidoscope Stravinsky had composed.
The Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg has been invited by the Orchestre National de Lille as part of its concert season.
