A flash performance from our artists in residence – a residence from which a very fruitful collaboration has emerged! On the one hand, the Hauts-de-France-based ensemble, Miroirs Étendus, which explores the area of vocal creation through the prism of a contemporary understanding of opera. On the other, the composer, Alex Nante, born in Buenos Aires in 1992, whose deeply expressive music is imbued with astonishing lyricism. As with Estrella de la mañana, named after a volume of poems by the Argentinian, Jacobo Fijman, he draws much of his inspiration from poetry, creating nocturnal atmospheres infused with rich spirituality. Also included in the programme are five works from 114 Songs by Charles Ives, a collection of melodies that represents the composer’s wide-ranging talent for experimentation.
Miroirs Étendu is the ONL’s ensemble-in-residence.
