Founded by Ernest Ansermet in 1918, the Geneva-based Orchestre de la Suisse Romande’s distinguished career has been presided over by English conductor, Jonathan Nott, since 2016. In the first half of this exceptional concert, Khatia Buniatishvili will assert her reputation as one of the most appreciated musicians of our time, her fame extending far beyond the realm of classical music enthusiasts. Tchaikovsky’s Concerto No.1 provides her with the ideal score to give free rein to her spectacularly powerful playing. Performed in the second half, Beethoven’s astounding and monumental Symphony No.3, the so-called Eroica, was ground-breaking for its time. A work of excess, at all costs!
The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande has been invited by the ONL as part of its concert season.
