All roads lead to Paris! At the start of the 20th century, artists from all corners of the world flocked to the French capital. In his Romanian Rhapsody No.1, Georges Enescu evokes memories of his homeland. As for Camille Saint-Saëns, he achieved a marvel of luminosity with his Piano Concerto No.2.
The pianist, Varvara, will interpret this major work in the French composer’s repertoire. Jean-Claude Casadesus, a passionate Bœuf sur le toit enthusiast, will have the orchestra tapping their feet to Milhaud’s sambas and Brazilian melodies. And to round of the programme, Ravel’s Boléro needs no introduction! The work’s unrelenting rhythm conquered the world.
