Did you know?
The north of France was home to great Renaissance composers.
A cappella songs by Claude Le Jeune and Josquin des Prés from Valencienne are as fresh and original today as they were at the time of their composition. During the Belle Époque, musicians rediscovered this fabulous repertoire adding their own compositions inspired by poets of yore. Though Debussy set Charles d’Orléans to music, Ravel wrote medieval texts of his own. As for Poulenc, he chose contemporary poets, such as Guillaume Apollinaire and Paul Eluard. The northern choir, Septentrion, will interpret a fabulous panorama of French a cappella music.
