Orchestre National de Lille
Ask anyone who has attended a performance by Patricia Kopatchinskaja: she is extraordinary! In terms of her technique and the energy she radiates on stage, the Moldavian violinist is phenomenal. PatKop, as she is called, also premiered this concerto by Aureliano Cattaneo, one of the most fascinating composers of his generation. The rest of the programme is just as enthralling, with Richard Strauss’s irresistible Don Juan and a rare piece by Bernstein written for Rostropovich.
Lastly, a gust of musical theatre will let rip with Bernstein’s exhilarating Symphonic dances from the famous West Side Story.
